Vande Bharat Sleeper Train Concept Revealed at IREE 2025
The highly awaited Vande Bharat Sleeper Train has moved a step closer to reality. Kinet Railway Solutions, an Indo-Russian joint venture, unveiled the design concept of the First AC coach during the International Railway Equipment Exhibition (IREE) 2025 at Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi.
This marks an important milestone in India’s efforts to modernize long-distance travel. The new design promises passengers a mix of comfort, luxury, and advanced technology.
Indo-Russian Partnership to Build 120 Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains
Kinet Railway Solutions is a partnership between Russia’s Transmashholding (TMH) and India’s Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL). TMH is among the world’s largest train manufacturers. Together, they will produce and maintain 120 Vande Bharat Sleeper Trains, with nearly 1,920 modern coaches planned for Indian Railways.
This partnership reflects a new chapter of global collaboration in railway engineering. Moreover, it combines Make in India principles with Russian expertise in advanced rail technology. As a result, Indian passengers can expect a significant upgrade in rail comfort and quality.

Inside the First AC Coach: Redefining Comfort and Elegance
The First AC four-berth compartment introduces a premium travel experience for overnight routes. Spacious interiors, soft lighting, and high-quality materials create an atmosphere of luxury.
Each cabin includes individual reading lights, USB charging ports, and smart storage for personal items. In addition, passengers get a small bedside niche for phones, books, or watches.
Accessibility has been prioritized. A compact staircase offers easy access to upper berths, while thoughtful design ensures privacy and convenience for every traveler.
According to Kinet Railway Solutions, “Modern and premium materials meet in harmony, while soft tones and warm metallic accents add a touch of elegance.”
A delicate Indian motif, inspired by traditional block printing, decorates the cabin walls. This fusion of modern design and cultural heritage highlights India’s growing design identity.
Production to Begin in 2025 at Latur Factory
At the event, Nishunk Garg, Project Director at Kinet Railway Solutions, shared the latest progress update. He said that the Marathwada Rail Coach Factory in Latur is nearly ready for production. The first output is expected by late 2025.
“The presentation of the First AC sleeper design marks a major milestone in our journey,” Garg noted.
The first prototype of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is expected by June 2026. Meanwhile, Kinet is also building a maintenance depot in Jodhpur, with additional facilities planned in Delhi and Bengaluru. These depots will handle large-scale operations and maintenance once the trains enter service.
A Step Towards India’s Rail Modernization Vision
The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train marks a critical step in Indian Railways’ modernization plan. It aims to transform long-distance travel by providing speed, comfort, and premium facilities.
Moreover, this project aligns with the government’s goal of creating a world-class railway network under the ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ vision. With its advanced sleeper design, India is moving closer to international standards in train comfort.
The collaboration between RVNL and TMH also highlights India’s ability to merge global technology with local innovation. Consequently, this partnership is expected to strengthen India’s position in the global railway industry.
As India prepares for the next phase of its high-speed and luxury rail revolution, the unveiling of the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train at IREE 2025 marks the beginning of a new era — one driven by design, technology, and passenger experience.
