PMO New Address Ready For Occupancy
The PMO new address will soon become a reality. Senior government officials said Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to move into his new office located in the Executive Enclave on or soon after Diwali.
This will be the first relocation of the Prime Minister’s Office since India’s Independence in 1947. For 78 years, the PMO has functioned from the historic South Block, a cornerstone of India’s post-independence governance.
Inside The Executive Enclave
The new PMO address will be located in “Sewa Tirath-1”, one of three modern buildings in Executive Enclave-I, adjacent to Vayu Bhawan in New Delhi.
The other two buildings — Sewa Tirath-2 and Sewa Tirath-3 — will house the Cabinet Secretariat and the National Security Advisor’s Office respectively.
Recent developments show that the complex is already in partial operation. On October 14, Cabinet Secretary T.V. Somanathan chaired a high-level meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan and the three service chiefs inside Sewa Tirath-2. The meeting signaled that the enclave is ready for full-scale use.

PMO New Address Part Of Central Vista Project
The Central Vista Redevelopment Project, under which the PMO new address falls, is among India’s largest infrastructure initiatives. It aims to modernize the country’s central administrative core along Kartavya Path (formerly Rajpath).
The three-kilometre stretch is being transformed into a pedestrian-friendly, green government district. The project blends heritage architecture with sustainable modern design.
Under the plan, the South Block and North Block — which have housed top offices for decades — will be converted into museums under the ‘Yuga Yugin Bharat Sangrahalaya’ initiative. France’s Museum Development Agency is collaborating to help redesign these colonial-era buildings into world-class museums showcasing India’s history.
Why The PMO New Address Matters
Prime Minister Modi has often emphasized the need for efficient, technology-driven workplaces. Many ministries still function from outdated colonial-era buildings with limited space and poor infrastructure.
The new PMO office is designed to fix these issues. It will offer energy efficiency, digital connectivity, and open collaborative spaces to improve coordination between ministries.
Officials say the new setup will enhance transparency, speed up decision-making, and reduce communication gaps between government departments.

Common Secretariat Buildings To Follow
Along with the PMO new address, several Common Central Secretariat (CCS) buildings are being built to consolidate scattered ministries.
One such complex, Kartavya Bhawan, was inaugurated recently and now houses several ministries. Three more CCS complexes are ready for occupancy, showing rapid progress in the Central Vista project.
The entire redevelopment — including the Prime Minister’s new residence near South Block — is targeted for completion by 2027. Plans also include automated people movers (APMs) to connect government buildings and reduce congestion.
A Historic Move After 78 Years
The relocation of the PMO new address marks a historic shift in India’s administrative journey. The South Block has been the nerve centre of Indian governance since 1947, witnessing decisions that shaped the nation.
As the new PMO in the Executive Enclave becomes operational, it symbolizes a new era of governance — one that reflects modernity, efficiency, and national pride.
When Prime Minister Modi begins work from the new building this Diwali, it will not just be a change of location — it will be a new chapter in India’s administrative history.
